Book Review-Famished (Ash Park Series #1)

I can’t recall how I even came across this author, but if I had to guess, it would have been through an email with some type of promo offer.

I bought the e-book bundle containing Books 1 to 3, of Meghan O’Flynn’s Ask Park Series:  Famished, Conviction, and Repressed.

I finished this book in approximately one month.  Reading was done during my lunch hour, and for this book, did not include any evening or weekend reading.

**Trigger Warning**

This book is not for the faint of heart.  It contains quite a bit of violence that may be triggering for some.  The book includes scenes of domestic abuse, child abuse, rape, incest, and sexual assault. The murder scenes are particularly gruesome.

The book focuses on two main characters:  Detective Petrosky and Hannah.  Hannah believes that she is being stalked and that the recent string of murders are somehow connected to her.  It’s up to Detective Petrosky to keep her safe and figure out who the stalker is, all the while trying to keep himself together after his own daughter’s grisly murder.

Here are my thoughts:

I really want to give this book 5 stars, but I was so confused at the end, I just can’t.

The ending of the story either sucked or will be continued in future Ash Park books. I’m hoping it’s the latter.

I enjoyed the story, and when the first twist was introduced, I enjoyed it even more, as I waited for sh*t to hit the fan. I was then completely confused with the wrap-up. I don’t know if the confusion is pure genius or poor writing. As previously mentioned, I’m hoping the story carries through the Ash Park series and is concluded a little more clearly.

I found Hannah a little bit annoying. I was over her skittishness about 3/4 of the way through. I found Dominic a little emotionless, but that made sense until…or did it?

I give this book:

  1. I’ve never heard of this series of books. It doesn’t sound like I’d enjoy it BUT I like your review of it. Maybe it made sense, maybe it didn’t. The world needs more book reviews like this one– truthful. Well done.
